About the Office

Our Vision:

That the Office for the Hispanic Apostolate, guided by Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary, and in collaboration with the Diocesan Hispanic Commission, Pastoral Center, Parishes and Catholic institutions, accompany the Latino Community in attaining complete integration throughout the Diocese of Richmond and where ever Our Community lives, works, studies, celebrates, and worships.

Our Mission:

In accordance to the National Pastoral Plan for Hispanic Ministry of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and in union with the Bishop of Richmond, ensure that the Office for the Hispanic Apostolate adequately responds to the needs and aspirations of the Latino Community of the Richmond Diocese through the identification, formation, capacity building and accompaniment of its lay and religious leaders.

The Way We Work:
Since opening its doors on September 3, 1996, the Office for the Hispanic Apostolate has been working in concert with the Hispanic Commission, the clergy and laity as well as all diocesan structures to meet the pastoral and social justice needs of Latinos in the Diocese of Richmond.

The directors meet the Hispanic Commission on a quarterly basis.  The Office for Hispanic Pastoral Services reports to the Vicar for Pastoral Services monthly and Hispanic Catholic Education reports to the Chief Educational Administrator of the Catholic Education Office monthly

The Office also raises awareness within the diocesan community of the gifts that Hispanics offer to the larger Church and works in collaboration with all diocesan offices to attain these objectives.
