Mission
The purpose of this outreach is to assist the Bishop of the Diocese of Richmond in making the church more relevant to the needs and hopes of Black youths and young adults. This ministry will constitute an organization which is truly representative of Black youths and young adults; to promote evangelization and vocations; to foster special ministries; to develop their ecclesial leadership skills; and to sensitize all diocesan offices to the fact that this generation is an integral part of the church.
Activities will focus on the areas of:
ADVOCACY
- National Catholic Advocacy Day -- Washington, DC (April)
- Visiting 3rd world countries w/Missionaries of Christ (Honduras, etc.)
- Support political legislation that supports the community
CATECHESIS
- Youth Bible study
- Youth Forums
- Life discussions
- Youth Retreat
COMMUNITY LIFE
- Tutor younger children who struggle academically
- Mentor at risk youth
- Help elderly members of the community
EVANGELIZATION
- Picnic
- Invite friends/family members to revivals
- Promote being Black Catholics
- Share faith with others
JUSTICE AND SERVICES
- J-Walking
