Training
The Office for Evangelization of Youth and Young Adults desires that all who serve in leadership positions be well equipped and trained to pass on the faith. We offer a number of opportunities throughout the year for youth ministers, young adult leadership, volunteers, and catechists.
As specific training opportunities that pertain to youth, young adult, and campus ministry arise they will be posted on those different event listings.
However, there are a few ongoing training opportunities available throughout the year. These are listed below:
Youth Ministry Certification Program
We are partnering with the Augustine Institute to provide training days throughout the year. These day long sessions will enrich you and your team’s understanding of youth ministry and provide formation that is practical, academic, theological, and spiritual. Come to one, some, or all of the training days offered.
For those who are interested, a Certificate in Youth Ministry can be earned by attending all sessions over two years, along with completed homework. Trainings occur on four separate Saturdays throughout the year.
The Office for Evangelization of Youth and Young Adults is excited to offer our “Deep Waters” series for catechetical leaders, campus ministers, youth ministers, Catholic school educators, and volunteers in youth and young adult ministry.
Deep Waters based on Luke 5:4 - "Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch." The goal of this series is to provide you with practical tips of discipling youth and young adults. We aim to provide relevant training that is accessible for the people of our diocese.
Our "Deep Waters" series are held periodically across the Diocese. Each session will focus on a different aspect of reaching our youth and young adults. The times are 6:00 - 9:00 pm. Mass, dinner, and the seminar are provided to all parish leaders and volunteers free of charge. Keep your eyes peeled for new events.
Past workshops have included topics such as the technological landscape of youth and young adults and the use of technology in ministry, the changes in the New Roman Missal, and effective means of evangelization among youth and young adults.
To register for any of these training dates, simply RSVP to evangelization@richmonddiocese.org with your name and parish.
All who work in a catechetical ministry need to participate in a one-day diocesan catechetical training. To find out more information about Pathways and where it is offered, visit the Office of Christian Formation.
