Abundant Care and Faith, The Case for Support. Overall Target $2,250,000

2012 Case Pie Chart

Assisting Our Parishes
$860,000

Mission Parish Evangelization ($10,000) —The Diocese will provide a subsidy to our 45 mission parishes. These subsidies will enable them to purchase evangelization materials so they can work to bring more people to the Catholic Church.

Developing Lay Leadership ($145,000) —Our lay leaders must have robust formation that is aimed at developing theological understanding, building pastoral skills, deepening human qualities and strengthening Catholic identity and spirituality.

Fuel and Hunger Fund ($200,000) —On a daily basis, our parishes are seeing children, families and the elderly asking for help with basic human necessities. Without the Fuel and Hunger Fund, many would be turned away.

Saint Vincent DePaul Social Ministry Leadership Institute ($15,000) —This new institute will build the capacity of parish communities to become more active in social ministry.

Parish Sharing ($450,000) —A minimum of 20% of the funds collected in the 2012 Appeal will be returned to the parishes. In addition, when a parish surpasses its target, it will receive 50% of all funds collected over that target.

Parish Sharing - Mission Parishes ($40,000) — For the first time, a mission parish will receive 50% of all funds collected from their 2012 Appeal effort.

Supporting Our Priests
$530,000
Retired Priests ($300,000) — After dedicating their life to the Church, it is right that we honor the service of our priests by helping them retire with dignity.

International Priests ($180,000) — Our international priests play a vital role in the lives of their parishioners. These priests are an important part of our Diocese, but travel and immigration costs continue to rise.

Clergy Formation ($50,000) —Continuing education and formation will enable our clergy to grow to even higher levels of pastoral excellence over the years to come.

Strengthening Our Future Church
$610,000
Youth Ministries ($50,000) — By funding youth ministry programs during the school year and the summer, we can create a positive environment for our children to learn about the blessings of Jesus Christ, become positively grounded in the Word of God and begin their journey as lifelong members of our faith.

Young Adult Ministries ($50,000) — Young adult ministries reach out to young adults in their late teens and twenties in order to help them find an authentic way to connect with Christ, grow in holiness through His Church and His Sacraments and become strong Catholic men and women of faith in the vocation to which God calls them.

Campus Ministries ($160,000) — Campus ministry provides many students with an opportunity not only to learn Catholic Christian values, but also to embrace them in their early adult years and hopefully throughout their lives. The needs of campus ministry are vast since there are over 88,000 Catholic college students at 68 colleges
and universities in our Diocese.

Seminarian Education ($350,000) — As our seminarians make their journey through this critical formation process, they should be assured that they will not have to worry about the cost of this specialized education required to answer God’s calling.

“Do not turn your face away from any poor man, and the face of God will not be turned away from you. If you have many possessions, make from them your gift in proportion; if few, do not be afraid to give according to the little you have.”

--Tobit 4:7b-8
